If you were not able to attend Mad Cool festival you have another chance to enjoy live summer music in all of its splendour at Mad Music City, a festival that takes place from the 21st to the 26th of June and that revolves around European Music Day, which takes place on the 25th of the same month.

Matadero Madrid will once again be the main stage for this festival’s performances, more alternative and independent than those at Mad Cool, with Soleá Morente headlining the bill. Other performing bands include Parov Stellar, Imelda May, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Molotov Jukebox among many others. Tickets, which can be bought on this website, cost 35 euros and include access to the concert with the aforementioned bands.

Check out the varied programme aside from the concerts, such as MMC Cine, screening feature films with music as the common denominator at Cineteca de Matadero. It is the perfect occasion to see documentaries such as Janis (2015), on June 21st at 8.30 p.m., which shows us the process that took Janis Joplin to become a rock star through the different letters that she wrote before her tragic death. Another interesting option is 20,000 days on Earth (2015), which through the everyday life of Nick Cave shows us the keys to the creative process, demands and the peculiar life of a musician with a literary vocation.

This event also has its part for children, as you can see in its kids programme. Tickets cost just 3 euros and all funds go to refugee aid. The programme for children includes games, workshops and different activities that are designed to awaken their musical awareness.
