On September 30, 2011 the Teatro Real Madrid officially inaugurates the opera season and does it in a big way with Elektra.

The play is running until October 15. The performances will take place at 8 pm except Sunday which takes place at 6pm.

The ticket price for the  opening day starts at 9 Euros and goes up to 309 Euros for a VIP ticket. For the remaining days prices range from  7 to 172 Euros.

Teatro Real chooses the operas with great care. On this occasion they have chosen Strauss’ great work in order to attract new audiences and different types of viewers.

Gerard Mortier, Artistic Director of Teatro Real, went for a plot of revenge, incest and murder that keeps the audience firmly on their seats, totally excited to live intensely this opera played for the first time in 1909 with a libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal.

Elektra stands out for its intensity, its high dramatic atmosphere and because it shows what  is beautiful and what is not, using psychoanalysis and Freudian theories.
